Search Sanity
AdSubtract’s Search Sanity restores relevance
to search engine results. The search model "in vogue" today threatens
to undermine the credibility of search results. Paid search listings
are routinely displayed more prominently than natural, relevant search
results. In the "good old days" of the Internet, search engines competed
by displaying the most pertinent information the quickest. Now, relevance
takes a back seat to paid or "sponsored" listings. With AdSubtract's
Search Sanity feature, Web users have the ability to filter and cleanse
their searches while using the most popular search engines.
The Search for Relevance
Most popular search engines now
display paid search listings more prominently than regular
search results, the result being that the natural results
are diminished. When you search for something, do you
want to see the highest paying advertiser's results,
or the most relevant results and Web sites?
Questionable Results
Have you ever searched for something
like "red shoelaces" and seen results such as "Click
here for books about red shoelaces?" Or "Click here for
red shoelaces on (auction site)?" Or search for "Battery
charging" and seen "Click here for the best prices on
battery charging?" A handful of powerful advertisers
seem to have been granted extremely wide search territories
by the search engines. These big advertisers seem able
to have their ads displayed in search results, pretty
much where they want, whether they have something related
to what you are searching for, or not.
Paid Search is Increasing
It’s no secret. Search engine
based advertising now accounts for 35% of all online
advertising revenue, the largest percentage for any ad
format. This figure is up from 15% in 2002, according
to an Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers
report. Paid search contributed $2.4 billion to the $7
billion online ad industry in 2003. This number is expected
to rise in 2004 and beyond.
Search Sanity is Free
The new version of AdSubtract PRO
allows Web users to freely and easily block sponsored
search ads with its exclusive, patent-pending Search
Sanity™ feature. Previous free trial versions of
AdSubtract PRO did not offer continuous blocking of search
ads beyond the allotted trial period. However, now with
new and improved Search Sanity feature, AdSubtract PRO
users may freely block sponsored search ads indefinitely,
restoring relevance and purity to their search results.
Even after the free trial period of AdSubtract PRO expires,
Search Sanity will keep working to remove ads from your
search results. |
