AdSubtract InterMute nominated
for PC Computing
MVP Award at COMDEX
BRAINTREE, MA. November 11, 1999 - AdSubtract InterMute
is selected by PC Computing as one of three finalists
in its 1999 MVP Awards, in the Web Software
category. The award ceremony will be held at the
Harley Davidson Cafe in Las Vegas, during Fall 1999
COMDEX next week. AdSubtract InterMute is software
that blocks web ads, speeds up web browsing and protects
user privacy.
The MVP award is one of the most highly regarded
and sought after awards in the technology industry.
According to PC Computing: "The 1999 PC Computing
MVP logo represents prestige and distinction in the
industry. The award notifies a company's target
market that its product or service is recognized
for excellence. Earlier this year, AdSubtract
InterMute was reviewed by PC Computing and given
a four star rating.
"Being nominated for PC Computing's MVP
award is a huge compliment to our banner ad-blocking
software," said Ed English, AdSubtracts
President. "It is exciting to be among the few
nominated along with industry leaders like Microsoft,
Netscape, Adobe and Real Networks. We know our software
does a great job blocking ads and speeding up web
browsing, but this nomination, in what has been called
a banner year for internet software, is a very pleasant
surprise. This nomination identifies AdSubtract as
a force to be reckoned with in the ad world".
PC Computing's recognition of AdSubtract InterMute
is very timely. This week, an FTC hearing was held
in Washington DC, to review the controversial practice
of online profiling, which Internet ad
servers use to target ads to web users. Profiling
is the practice of collecting detailed information
on web user viewing and clicking habits, using internet cookies to
track user behavior. Concerns about online privacy
have escalated, as some ad companies are correlating
online-learned data with off-line demographic databases.
AdSubtract InterMute can stop the privacy invasion
of online profiling; with InterMute, cookies can
be selectively blocked, to only allow cookies from
trusted web sites.
