InterMute’s SpySubtract Recognized in Network World’s Enterprise Anti-Spyware Review

Receives an ‘Exceptional’ Score in ‘Spyware Identification and Removal’ Category

BRAINTREE, MA — December 21, 2004 — InterMute, Inc., a leading provider of best-of-breed Internet security and content filtering solutions, today announced that its SpySubtract® PRO consumer product received an “Exceptional” score in Network World’s recent review of enterprise anti-spyware products.

Network World evaluated InterMute’s consumer-class product in a product comparison featuring enterprise-level anti-spyware offerings, but still SpySubtract PRO scored a perfect “5” out 5—the highest ranking—in the “spyware identification and removal category.” This “Exceptional” ranking is due to SpySubtract PRO’s intelligent scanning engine, which is the same technology foundation as InterMute’s SpySubtract® Enterprise Edition solution announced on Dec. 13, 2004—the day the Network World review was published.
